Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 5.18.16
Last Thursday was a rollercoaster which thankfully ended well for all of us at Holman and for many of our friends and families. The Eleventh Circuit issued a stay, scheduling Oral Arguments on Vernon Madison’s competency issues in Atlanta for June 23rd. The State of Alabama appealed this stay to the U.S. Supreme Court and as that court locked in a 4-4 vote, the lower court’s ruling stayed in place. Justice Kennedy, who is looked on as a swing vote, regrettably voted to lift the stay.
