Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 9.16.20

Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 9.16.20

We are reminded again and again what great people we have in our corner not only when it comes to saving our lives but also when it comes to helping us to achieve our various goals. And yes, we are once more talking about our research article and will no doubt do so quite a few times before the May 2021 deadline. Dr. Katie Owens-Murphy heads the list because it is she who invited us to write but also was quick to offer us any help we might need with formatting etc. Then this week we received a copy of the magazine thanks to another Advisory Board Member, Attorney Kacey Keaton. This is very helpful as it allows us to see what is required. Further encouragement and offer of help came from UNA Librarian Jennifer Lee Pate at UNA telling us that if we needed any research assistance she would be happy to help. With help like this success is ensured!

We regret to say that at the 2020 National Catholic Prayer Breakfast (NCPB) which has no official standing in the Catholic Church, the U.S. Conference of Catholic (USCCB) will honor Attorney General William Barr.  Barr is scheduled to receive the Christifideles Laici award, which is intended to honor laity who promote the Catholic Church’s mission in their life and work. Esther signed 2 letters of protest on behalf of all of us because Barr obviously acts against the church’s teaching when he pursues the Federal death penalty. “People of the Lie” might have been a more appropriate award! Very disappointing to put it mildly!

As usual after we receive our hard copy of our newsletter we devoted some time going over it together and sharing reactions received from various sources.

As with previous general elections we are encouraging our families and friends to make sure they are registered and vote. No Vote, No Voice!

In closing and as always, we continue to thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly. Thank you also to all who took the time to read our notes, commented, liked and shared them on Facebook. You encourage us and make all the difference. Please stay safe!
