Friends,
We are sad to announce that the State of Alabama took the life of Greg Hunt tonight.
Our thoughts are with Greg’ family, his Spiritual Advisor, his Attorneys and his followers and brothers on death row at Holman. Greg leaves a powerful legacy as he was helpful in laying the groundwork of what Alabama’s Death Row has become, from caring for each other, nurturing and mentoring each other and giving. Greg embodied and gave us an example of what can happen when our hearts are full of compassion. He was creative in finding ways to help from putting care packages together for new arrivals or just helping when someone was struggling, not just spiritually. His loving was contagious and caught on and grew. And he looked ahead asking friends and supporters to send money to those in here who have no one else to turn to.
We thank Death Penalty Action, Execution Intervention Project, Amnesty International, AL state Conference of the NAACP, Alabama Arise, the ACLU, Alabama New South Coalition, San Egidio in Rome, Witness to Innocence, the Evangelical Network of EJUSA, L’Chaim! Jews Against the Death Penalty, Faith In Action Alabama, Catholic Mobilizing Network and many others for how they stood with us. We also thank the Alabama organizations who sent out information. As always, we especially thank our sister organization JAM in Birmingham. A special thanks to Dr. Pamela Foster and Bill Foster, founder of and Executive Director at Aframsouth Inc who came all the way from Tuscaloosa for the petition delivery and recorded it for their radio station. A special thanks also to Public Figure Tabitha Isner. We are grateful!
R.I.P, Greg! We love you, will not forget and your loving legacy will live on!
Esther and the Board of Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty
