EXECUTION ANNOUNCEMENT – JEFFERY LEE

Friends,

We are sad to announce that the State of Alabama took the life of Jeffery Lee tonight.

Our thoughts are with his much loved family, his Spiritual Advisor, his attorneys, his great organizers and his followers and brothers on death row at Holman. We are grateful to be able to quote Jeffery: “I don’t fear dying and nothing like that, because I know where I would be” referencing heaven.” Throughout these days he also stated: “God is not finished, He is still working, not only on my behalf, but on the other brothers’ behalf that are facing this situation.”

We thank Death Penalty Action, Execution Intervention Project, Amnesty  Monmouthshire in southern Wales which reached out to Amnesty International, Alabama Arise, the ACLU, Alabama New South Coalition, The Alabama State Conference of the NAACP, The Catholic Archbishop of Mobile, The Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, San Egidio in Rome, Witness to Innocence, L’Chaim! Jews Against the Death Penalty, Faith In Action Alabama, Catholic Mobilizing Network, flocc, faith leaders of color coalition and so many others for how they stood with us. We thank the churches in Alabama who contacted the governor, held vigils, signed cards and tolled the bell. We also thank the Alabama organizations who sent out information and all our friends on Facebook who acted! As always, we especially thank our sister organization JAM in Birmingham.. We are grateful to all of you!

R.I.P. JLove, We love you, will not forget and your loving legacy will live on!
