YOUR VIEW: If executions deter crime, televise them

I agree wholeheartedly with the late Albert Camus that capital punishment is the greatest example of premeditated murder.

In Alabama, we are seduced with the immoral and cruel justification that to kill another human being through the methodical, planned, unspeakable process of execution is all right. Camus strongly opposed capital punishment. In a lengthy essay about the use of the guillotine, he said if executions deter persons from committing murder, why not televise capital punishment executions so everyone can watch them take place.

What do you think about that idea, Gov. Robert Bentley?
