Due to a variety of reasons, some of the details of our planned demonstration have changed since our initial announcement. The information below reflects our final plan for the demonstration.
 

Micah's House community is working with members of Justice and Mercy for All, Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty and others to stage a demonstration protesting the continued use of Capital Punishment in Alabama and the injustices surrounding its current and historic use in Alabama, as well as, promote the idea of a moratorium against its continued use, specifically relating to four bills before the State House and Senate this session.
 
We will be staging the demonstration at the fountain in Five Points South, downtown Birmingham from the hours of 1pm - 3pm.
 

The demonstration will feature a cross, one of many historic implements of death, complete with a person symbolically dressed in AL DOC “Dress Whites”, attached to the instrument, for the duration of the demonstration. Using signage and leaflets distributed by participants staged around Five Points, information will also be presented relevant to the historic usage of capital punishment, as well as, the injustices of the AL system.
 
We are proud to announce that we will be joined for our demonstration by Gary Drinkard, who was exonerated from Alabama's Death Row in 2001. Gary now uses his freedom to travel around the country speaking against the death penalty from his perspective as one wrongfully convicted. A few that are really good have already begun to filter in, and we believe this could be the beginning of something very impactful, but it is going to take the effort of us all corporately, so your presence and involvement is vital to our corporate work.
