Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 11.12.25
We held our election last Wednesday and welcome the new Board members and our new Chairman, Bart Johnson. You can find the names on our website, www.phadp.org. https://www.phadp.org/about-us/board-of-directors-executive-committee-and-staff/ We will continue the work that our organization now has done for 36 years!
Yesterday was Veterans Day and we celebrated the 12 veterans on death row and thanked them for their service with a free meal and were joined in the celebration by an outside group.
There have been a lot of changes at Holman recently which have complicated our usual routine. One of these is that one can no longer send mail to Holman but instead to an inmate mail processing address from where it is put on the man’s tablet. Unfortunately the tablets issued are of poor quality and many are not working. Here is the address:
AL DOC Inmate Mail Processing
Inmate’s Name and Z number

The 2025 Christmas card list is up on our website: https://www.phadp.org/christmas-card-list-2025/. We thank you!
We were honored to receive an unpublished Op Ed written after our Chairman’s execution: “Who is the monster?” by Corinna Barrett Lain is the George E. Allen Chair in Law at the University of Richmond School of Law. She is one of the nation’s leading authorities on the death penalty and author of Secrets of the Killing State: The Untold Story of Lethal Injection. Best of all she is our friend who felt that we would be the ones to understand it and we do.
We shared a remembrance by a dear friend of one of our founders Wallace Norrell Thomas who was executed in 1990. “A Light That Never Went Out: Remembering Wallace Norrell Thomas.”
We thank all who are working so hard and diligently to stop all killing in Alabama! And as always in closing, we thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly. Thank you also to all who took the time to read our notes, commented, liked and shared them on Facebook. Stay safe and be kind to each other!
Esther
