Robert Grass, an attorney for Smith, stated that his defense team is disappointed in the decision and will continue to fight in court.“We remain hopeful that those who review this case will see that a second attempt to execute Mr. Smith — this time with an experimental, never-before-used method and with a protocol that has never been fully disclosed to him or his counsel — is unwarranted and unjust,”. Attorneys for Kenneth Eugene Smith filed an amended lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the proposed new execution method.
There will be a Faith Rally in support of Toforest Johnson, an innocent man on death row, this Sunday, Dec.3rd. 4:00-5:30 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 600 Center St, Birmingham.
We are pleased and proud to report that former Board member before he was exonerated and now Advisory Board member, Gary Drinkard is representing us in Rome at Sant’Egidio’s Two days to say NO to the death penalty: the "Cities for Life" event on November 29th and 30th. We are grateful to be able to report that the scheduled execution of Kenneth Smith and how to help has been raised as a major concern.
We cannot say thank you enough to the ACLU of Alabama:” It's Giving Tuesday! We partner with some incredible groups all year round but this Giving Tuesday, we've selected four Alabama based organizations doing necessary work in the South.” We are one of them!!
