Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 12.31.25

Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 12.31.25

We end the year on a positive note with “Opinion | I lost my father to violence. Executing the wrong man won’t bring justice” by Tori Battle and she adds: “Another death will not bring him back. It will only deepen my trauma and the moral cost we all share.” The “wrong man” she is referring to is Charles Burton who did not kill her father. Alabama authorities love to talk about closure, which they obviously no nothing about, but again and again disrespect the murder victim’s family wishes when they ask for no further trauma.

We also want you to know that your huge record breaking reaction on Facebook to the post about the singing of “We wish you a merry Christmas” reached the men telling them once more that they are not forgotten and that they are seen! It meant a lot to all of us!

We are grateful and proud to announce that  Vol. 29, No. 4 (Oct-Dec. 2025) of On Wings of Hope has been published to the American Prison Newspapers collection on JSTOR where it joins earlier Wings of Hope.

As many of you know the new communication system leaves much to be desired making it difficult for family members, friends and pen pals to stay in touch.  “Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.” Please hang in there with us because your presence in our lives makes a difference!

The new book by the Rev. Dr, Jeff Hood *YOU ARE A MURDERER: ESSAYS FOR EXECUTIONERS* is now available at Amazon as well as on line.

We thank all who are working so hard and diligently to stop all killing in Alabama! And as always in closing, we thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly. Thank you also to all who took the time to read our notes, commented, liked and shared them on Facebook. Stay safe and be kind to each other and best wishes for 2026!
