Alabama Appeals Court Orders New Trial for EJI Client Warren Hardy.” The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals reversed Warren Hardy’s capital murder conviction and death sentence in a unanimous decision last week. Finding that Mr. Hardy’s trial was unfair because the trial judge’s instructions to the jury improperly lowered the prosecution’s burden of proof, the court ordered a new trial.”
As expected Gov. Kay Ivey has signed into law a bill making rape of a child younger than 12 a capital crime in Alabama.
It is of interest that SUFFOCATION BY DESIGN by the Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood was sent beyond government officials and legislators in Alabama – it also was sent to the US Supreme Court Justices, Governors, Attorneys General, and Chief Justices in a total of 11 executing states, our friends at the SPLC, selected state legislators in 5 other states, the executive directors of the state anti-death penalty organizations in the 11 executing states, a State Senator in Louisiana, and others – even Rachel Maddow.
