“As we enter this critical moment in Sonny’s case, our goal is to bring this community closer together by sharing timely updates, clear actions, and the information needed to keep mercy firmly in the public conversation.” Quote from Sonny’s special support team, SAVE SONNY BURTON. We are participating in the weekly Save Sonny Coalition Communication meetings and we will be sharing details about Vigils on day of execution as well as petitions delivery. Besides signing petitions personal letters to the Governor are important.

The Attorney General has asked for a date for Jeffrey Lee. We will keep you updated. Meanwhile it is important to note that he has many powerful issues, including 7-5 jury override of the life without sentence for which the jury had voted.

We appreciate the following quote from the article in the Alabama Reflector Alabama provides the greatest arguments against the death penalty “All it does is satisfy the bloodlust of a handful of rigid-minded politicians, whose desires seem to take priority over facts, survivors’ feelings and demonstrated incompetence.

That’s the greatest argument against the death penalty. And it’s one Alabama keeps making with every unjust and torturous execution.” And all executions are unjust!

We also recommend the article by Ralph Chapoco in the ALABAMA REFLECTOR – “He’s 75. He’s in a wheelchair. He didn’t pull the trigger. But Alabama plans to execute him.  Charles “Sonny” Burton was convicted of felony murder for being present at a 1991 robbery where a man was killed. The victim’s daughter and jurors are seeking clemency.”

We appreciated being part of the book launch of SUFFOCATION BY DESIGN by the Rev. Dr. Jeff Hood. Please continue to help to get it out there!

We thank all who are working so hard and diligently to stop all killing in Alabama! And as always in closing, we thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly. Thank you also to all who took the time to read our notes, commented, liked and shared them on Facebook. Stay safe and be kind to each other.
