Esther made a small donation in our name to the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth, & Reconciliation whose “mission is to partner with institutions to promote love, the establishment of justice, and build the Beloved Community. The Center is committed to transforming and healing the root causes of physical, political, psychological, environmental, economic and racial violence at personal, family, community and systemic levels.” We have been aware of the work the Center does for a long time and the important work it does especially for our youth, youth like us!
We discussed and recommend “Spring 2025 Death Row USA: U.S. Death Row Down 7.2% in Past Year; Recent Executions Point to Growing Race-of-Victim Bias” by Robert Dunham of the Death Penalty Policy Project.
And from Death Penalty Weekly Update by Leah Roemer: “New Analysis: Capital Cases Overturned At Least Four Times Illustrate How Pervasive Prosecutorial Misconduct Contributes to High Cost of Death Penalty” and so our question is what does it say about the death penalty states, not only is there pervasive prosecutorial misconduct but they waste resources that could help the disadvantaged?
