Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 6.11.25

Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 6.11.25

Although our focus is still on yesterday’s execution as it was last week leading up to it, we cannot ignore that Alabama meanwhile continued on its bloodthirsty path. “The U.S. Supreme Court is set to hear an appeal from Alabama officials regarding a lower court’s decision that deemed a death row inmate, Joseph Clifton Smith, intellectually disabled. The findings previously spared Smith from execution, challenging the state’s bid to reinstate the death penalty under a new legal examination.” And also “ A state lawmaker is proposing an expansion of Alabama’s capital murder law in the wake of Sunday’s fatal shooting inside the Saenger Theatre.”  State Rep. Matt Simpson (R-Daphne) hopes to change that.“I’ll be honest, I don’t think the death penalty is used enough, and I think that that does serve as a deterrent,” he told FOX10 News.” A demonstration of the saying that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing!

Yesterday in the execution announcement we shared Greg’s powerful legacy of love which he left us. To get away from the above negative Alabama news I share the following poem that Greg sent me.

“I wrote it in my early years as a Christian.

I got scars on my body but I refuse to bow

I got scars on my fist, but I refuse to gloat

I got scars on my heart, but I refuse to cry

I got scars on my soul, Yeah, but that’s where I need to die.

Before God I’m ashamed, I’ve not been living as I should

Before God I’m ashamed I’ve not been giving as I should

Before God I’m ashamed not forgiving as I should

Lord have mercy, till I learn to live as you would

Brother Gregory “

We thank all who are working so hard and diligently to stop all killing in Alabama! And as always in closing, we thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly. Thank you also to all who took the time to read our notes, commented, liked and shared them on Facebook. Stay safe and be kind to each other!
