As our supporters will already know the State of Alabama has set 7.28.22 as the execution date for Joe N. James Jr. You will find the Talking Points for Mr. James on our website http://www.phadp.org/?q=alerts as well as the contact for Governor Ivey who stated “that all life is sacred”. Many thanks to those of you who have already contacted the Governor! And much appreciation to the Alabama State Conference of the NAACP who forwarded our Alert to its members!

Our organization signed on to a letter initiated by Alabama Arise to Alabama lawmakers - fund the Alabama Public Transit Trust Fund with American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funding! Apparently Alabama is only one of three states that do not fund public transportation. We would like to suggest that abolishing the death penalty would free up enough funds to meet this and other moral obligations to its citizens that Alabama at this point in time woefully fails to meet.

We were grateful and encouraged to receive the report from the JAM Meeting held on June 5th. The 2 next meetings are already scheduled on the first Sunday of July and the first Sunday in August at Eastlake UMC, at 3:30 p.m. We hope that some of you reading these notes will try to attend!

Our thanks to City Hope who surprised with a delicious meal on Saturday! We really enjoyed it!
