Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey set a 30-hour time frame for the execution of Jeremy Williams in an order sent Thursday to the commissioner of the Alabama Department of Corrections. The execution must occur between anytime Aug. 13 and 6 a.m. Aug. 14. Jeremy Williams is a volunteer because he wants to save the murder victims’ families further grief and as a way of atoning for what he did.

We were invited by a friend and supporter Claire McCalh Milligan to a zoom meeting with Joia Thornton of faith leaders of color coalition, a national organization, and Alabama faith leaders to discuss joint actions to be taken on behalf of Toforest Johnson and jury override. We invited attendees to join our email list and also to join us at the time of petition deliveries and vigils. We are grateful for this opportunity to meet and share.

Our organization was founded 37 years ago and so that means we have certain traditions. One of these is that we have competitions leading up to July 4th which include chess, spades. scrabble, volley ball and basketball. And yes, besides working on our newsletter, these have been taking place whenever possible.
