We are having to adjust to shorter and at times delayed meetings but we are determined to adjust to this new way and figure out ways to disseminate information and important legal strategies and our hope is that we will emerge stronger!
We had a great exchange with our friends in Mississippi who are hoping to model their group Leaders for Life in Mississippi after Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty. We wish them well!
We are in touch with Professor Corinna Barrett Lain author of the highly acclaimed Secrets of the Killing State and as of now she wrote: “I have a law school event at University of Alabama on Sept 18, and a bookstore event in Tuscaloosa on the 19th.” We will do our best to keep you updated on other events in Alabama and are honored to have been invited to be a co-sponsor of an event in Montgomery. The 11th Circuit Court of Criminal appeals has sided with Michael Sockwell who was convicted in the 1988 murder-for-hire of Montgomery Police Chief Isaiah Harris and has granted him a new trial because his constitutional right had been violated.
