Governor Ivey has set 8.21.25 as the execution date for David Lee Roberts, a severely mentally ill man. As is our custom and when given the opportunity we stop by at the cells of the men on single walk who have a date to ask whether they need anything or we can be of help.
We are sad to report that “Equal Justice USA is going to have to close down, which will happen by the end of August. This is a direct result of the Department of Justice funding cuts that hit hundreds of organizations on April 22.” We will miss our partners of Alabama People of Faith Death Penalty Coalition and its leader and our friend Sam Heath!

We discussed “States Grapple with the Death Penalty” and are very aware that “More people have been executed in 2025 than in any year of the past decade.” It is of course positive news that” some states are strengthening protections against the death penalty” but from where we stand we experience the opposite.
We thank all who are working so hard and diligently to stop all killing in Alabama! And as always in closing, we thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly.
