We have an outbreak of Covid at Holman Prison on death row as well as in population and the man in the cell next to David Roberts is infected.
We appreciate Catholic Mobilizing Network and its post of Archbishop Joseph Naumann who stated: “Our refusal to resort to the death Penalty is not because we fail to appreciate the horror of the crime committed, but because we refuse to imitate violent criminals.”
We took a trip down memory lane with Charlotte Clark-Frieson and the first issue of A People’s Voice newspaper where our late, great Chairman Darrell Grayson and Esther were honored to be featured in an exclusive interview 20 years ago. Darrell by phone from death row. https://www.clarkhistoricsite.org/updates/history-that-refuses-to-die-remembering-the-peoples-voice?
We ordered “Don’t Kill a Pastor, Writings from the Campaign to save Greg Hunt” by the Rev. Jeff Hood based on their email correspondence.
Legislation, now prefiled as House Bill 11, would mandate that any Alabamian charged with committing murder or capital murder when they were at least 16 years old be “charged, arrested, and tried as an adult.” We would like to suggest that a prerequisite for filing any bill would be keeping up to date on psychology.
We were delighted to receive a supportive email regarding the latest edition of our newsletter On Wings of Hope from the Archivist of Chambers County Library, one of the places where our newsletter is archived.
We thank all who are working so hard and diligently to stop all killing in Alabama! And as always in closing, we thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly. Thank you also to all who took the time to read our notes, commented, liked and shared them on Facebook. Stay safe and be kind to each other!
Esther
