Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 8.16.23

The State has asked for an execution date for Casey McWhorter. We will keep you posted.

It is almost time for Alabama Arise’s annual meeting where we vote on next year’s priorities, Voting is on line and phadp can designate 6 individuals to receive 7 votes to cast for our issue. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU CAN HELP! I need to submit the names by September 18th in time for you to receive your voting form for the annual meeting on September 30th. Can you help to keep the death penalty moratorium as one of the issue priorities as it has been now for many years? We need you!

Sam Heath of EJUSA sent us the following message: “I followed up with Demetrius Minor about Conservatives Concerned in Alabama. Right now there are no plans to have a Conservatives Concerned chapter, but that could change if there was a host organization and a number of key conservatives willing to participate.” Sam did give us a couple of names who might be of help so let us hear from you! Thank you, Sam and much appreciation!

We discussed the huge fight that took place in Montgomery and how to use that to get people to the voting booths. Although we can’t vote we do understand that change will only come when people vote and so our question is how can we help to make that happen. More on that later!

As happens four times a year we are working on the next edition of our newsletter Wings of Hope. We discuss the theme of the newsletter and as nearly always find that there is a recurring one, not too surprising when one considers that we are all so to speak neighbors.

We very much appreciate our friend Sarah Gregory who wrote: I will NOT give up! And she definitely isn’t! Not only does she have two Bruce Springsteen web pages posting the story but she is also doing a podcast next week, to which I will forward the link.

We thank all who are working so hard and diligently to stop all killing in Alabama! And as always in closing, we thank all our generous donors who either gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button or who gave directly. Thank you also to all who took the time to read our notes, commented, liked and shared them on Facebook. And if you would like to order our book “Ghosts Over the Boiler” you can do so at Amazon.com. Stay well and be kind to each other,
