Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 8.29.18
We have some very good news. Our Advisory Board Member Judy Collins will be presenting our issue Death Penalty Reform at the Arise meeting on Saturday, Sept. 8 2018 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Montgomery. The meeting when the2019 priorities are chosen goes from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. To be able to vote voting representatives must be present for the entire presentation of every issue proposal which will likely run from about 12:30-2:30 p.m.  We need YOUR vote so please come and do your part.
The latest edition of our newsletter Wings of Hope is now at the printer and should be on line and in your mailbox very shortly.
The NAACP Quarterly meeting in Montgomery last Saturday provided a great opportunity to speak with the student chapter from Tuskeegee and to distribute Talking Points and copies of our newsletter. In the end it is the next generation who show by their membership in the NAACP that they care. They are our hope for the future. We thank them for the interest they showed in our message.
Yesterday evening Esther attended the meeting of the Chambers’ County chapter of the Alabama New South Coalition. It can be summed up under the heading of No Vote, No Voice. Members were able to designate their priorities and it will come as no great surprise that we listed abolition as our top priority and, while waiting on that to happen in Alabama, a death penalty moratorium.
We wish you a safe and enjoyable Labor Day Weekend!
See you next week!
